Bosch camera EX 14 for the toughest surveillance conditions
· Rugged engineering withstands hot, cold, wet and even corrosive conditions
· Complies with the highest quality and reliability standards
The EX14 Extreme Environment day/night camera from Bosch Security Systems is used in some of the harshest environmental conditions in the world. As proof of the camera’s outstanding reliability and toughness, an EX14 camera is still working faultlessly in Antarctica even after five years monitoring volcanic activity right on the rim of the Mount Erebus crater.
Installed in December 2005, the camera is an integral part of the permanent recording equipment at the crater’s edge, currently recording passive convection of the volcano’s lava lake and ready to capture the next transition to explosive activity, which is expected to happen soon. Conditions here are as extreme as they get, with winter temperatures below –55oC, icy and stormy weather, and corrosive gases produced by volcanic activity – conditions that only the toughest cameras in the world could withstand for any length of time.
The EX14 is particularly well suited for these harsh conditions. Made of an injection-molded ABS/Nylon resin, the camera is engineered specifically to withstand hot, cold and wet conditions and is installed in the most challenging surveillance applications, including wash-down facilities, corrosive environments and industrial freezers. Operating temperature range is from -60°C to +60°C (-76°F to +140°F), and an insulated inner chamber eliminates the requirement for internal heaters and blowers. The camera is compliant to IP67 and is built to the highest quality and reliability standards.
