Easterfest rocks with EV
Control for the system was supplied by EV DC One system controllers. The venue was completed with a full Electro Voice microphone kit consisting of N/D 967 and RE 510 vocal microphones across the front. Guitar amps were miked up with Raven large diaphragm dynamics, with an RE 20 on the bass rig. A second RE 20 was positioned on the Kick drum, along with a PL 33, and N/D 468’s then being positioned around the Toms with top and bottom snare being covered by N/D 168’s. A RE 200 looked after Hi Hats, and a pair of Cardinals being used as overheads. The microphone kit was rounded out by four channels of REV wireless handhelds, with both N/D 967 and RE 510 heads being available. A belt pack was utilised during Church services with an RE 97 headworn face microphone.
Apart from hosting Church, each morning of the festival ‘Big Top’ also saw major local and international acts appearing, including ‘Hawk Nelson’ from Canada, ‘Ivory Line’ and ‘Disciple’ from the U.S.A. Iconic U.S. act ‘Resurection Band’ also appeared as part of their Australian Tour. Resurection Band was one of the first bands to preach the Christian gospel in a heavy rock genre. The venue also saw legendary Australian act ‘Rosanna’s Radiers’ re-unite for a one off appearance at the festival.
‘Big Top’ was not alone as an Electro Voice venue, with CPC once again hanging their X-Line system on the mainstage. This was supported by X-Fills as Drum monitors and XI 1183’s being used for both side fills and outfields. Toowoomba-based production company SBA also provided a full QRX FOH and Monitor system for the ‘Epicentre’ venue. Mainstage headline acts included U.S. based Australian band ‘The Newsboys’ as well as ‘superchick’ and current Australian Idol winner ‘Stan Walker’ and his band.
